STN EXPO presents the revised, NHTSA-developed National Child Passenger Safety Training for School Buses on July 26 and 27. This eight-hour course provides new stand-alone modules and extensive additional material on securing children in safety vests and in school bus seat add-ons. Certified instructors at the EXPO will be Charley Kennington, director of transportation services for ESC Region IV in Houston; Cheryl Wolf, director of transportation at Lafayette, Ind., School Corporation; Sue Shutrump, the supervisor of occupational and physical therapy services at the Trumbull County, Ohio, Educational Service Center; and Jean Zimmerman, supervisor of occupational and physical therapy for The School District of Palm Beach County, Fla., will be on hand in Reno to teach attendees the latest in child safety seat securement techniques. They taught the first revised course at the National Conference on Transporting Students with Disabilities & Preschoolers earlier this month along with Kathy Strotmeyer of the Pennsylvania Traffic Injury Prevention Project. A new curriculum book is currently being produced by NHTSA and will be available in time for the EXPO. Sign up today.
