First-Ever Qualifier Sends State’s Best to Oklahoma

RENO, Nev. (Aug. 6, 2008) — William McCarty of Nevada Highway Patrol and Alfredo Alcade of Clark County Schools will vie for "America’s Best" school bus inspector and technician this September after winning the Nevada state qualifier.

Some of Nevada's best will head to national competition for first time.

The competition held at Washoe School District during the 15th Annual School Transportation News EXPO and Trade Show was Nevada’s first-ever state qualifier for the national competition. As first-place winnners, McCarty and Alcade will represent their state during during the competition at IC Bus’ plant in Tulsa, Okla., next month.

Daniel G, Mawson of the Nevada Highway Patrol took second place in the inspector category while Andrew Bates, also of Clark County, and Steven McKee of Washoe County took second and third place in the technician’s category.
