Last month, NAPT held voting for the 2012 School Bus Safety Poster Contest during the Summit Trade Show in Memphis, Tenn., As previously reported, voters ultimately selected the poster designed by Cesar Davila, an eighth grader at Manzano Middle School in Brownsville, Texas.
During the trade show, School Transportation News' Corina Van Damme caught up with former NAPT Board Member and President William Tousley, director of transportation at Farmington (Mich.) Public Schools, to discuss the contest, which was titled this year as "Stand Back from the Yellow and Black," as well as the judging criteria. This year, Tousley said students from 23 states and Japan particpated in five categories.
Davila's winning poster is the theme for the 2013 National School Bus Safety Week. Next year's contest will be voted on at the NAPT Summit held in Grand Rapids, Mich., and is titled "At My Stop - You Stop!"
