School bus drivers who fail a proficiency test when renewing their "S" endorsement on the commercial driver's license will be required to wait five days from the date they failed the exam before trying again. Marilyn Luke, division chief at the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicle, wrote in the latest edition of Connecticut School Transportation Association newsletter that a bulletin will be sent to the school bus industry in the state in addition to information shared with certified school bus driver training instructors by state inspectors and agents. Luke also said holders of "A" endorsements for activity trips are also required to undergo drug and alcohol testing because the operator is driving a student transportation vehicle. Additionally, the activity vehicle is considered a subset of a student transportation vehicle. |
