The Ontario School Bus Association notified members that the inclusion of a fuel escalator/de-escalator clause in new consortia/operatorcontracts resulted from years of OSBA lobbying the Ministry of Education. Previously, spikes in fuel prices put operators at risk. OSBA went annually to the Province for year end “top ups.""Most of the time, we were successful. But, our goal was for a permanent process and that was achieved in October 2009," OSBA said in a statement. Members should refer to the Ministry’s Student Transportation Web site for monthly fuel rates and eligible percentage change calculations.
