The Massachusetts Association for Pupil Transportation (MAPT) will be celebrating its 25th anniversary on June 12 in Marlborough, Mass., in what will also be its annual meeting.
Colleen Cavanaugh, administrative coordinator at MAPT, told STN the celebration will include a keynote speech by John Hennessey, director of transportation for the city of Worcester and former MAPT president. The speech will cover the history of the association, from the beginning to where it is today.
Approximately 45 MAPT members are expected to attend the celebration, she said, and everyone will receive a commemorative 25th-anniversary mug.
The training portion of the day, titled “New Ideas in Driver Training,” will include presentations by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to inform attendees of relevant new developments. Cavanaugh said there will also be an open forum for MAPT members to share ideas, success stories, relevant experiences and helpful lessons learned in the past year.
“We like to learn from each other,” she added.
