Blue Bird and Collins Bus will take part in a panel on propane school bus operations during a summit held in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the Propane Education and Research Council.

The 2010 Propane Engine Fuel Summit will present a 45-minute panel discussion on March 4 that discusses school bus propane options. Participating on the panel are Blue Bird's Roger Howsmon, the chief marketing officer, and Rusty Mitchell, product marketing manager. Joining them will be Kent Tyler, president of Collins Bus. The panel will be moderated by Mike Taylor, director of fleet management for Heritage Propane.

"As the leader in the Type-A school bus industry, we are excited to be partnering with leaders in the propane industry to bring another innovative product to the school bus market," Tyler said in a statement. "Our customers want clean fuel alternatives, and Collins Bus Corporation is proud to offer the NexBus Propane as a solution for their small bus needs."

Blue Bird will be discussing its popane Type C Vision school bus.

The panel discussion and other portions of the summit, which kicks off on March 3, will be available via live Webcast from TV Worldwide Studios. Those who wish to attend the on-site event must pay a $75 registration fee.

The complete summit will provide information from leading propane manufacturers of vehicles, dispensing equipment, fuel tanks and turn-key operators that will show transportation managers how propane can offer sound economic and environmental solutions for their fleets. Additionally, government officials will explain how the federal government is helping with incentives for propane, a true clean fuel alternative.
