On May 15 the Lewis Bus Group, a full-service Thomas Built Buses dealer, celebrated the grand opening of its new facility in North Salt Lake, Utah. The new dealership is strategically located to better serve the school bus OEM’s customers in Wyoming and Utah.

The new facility is three times larger than its former location, featuring six service bays, a wash bay, a parts sales and storage department, sales and administrative offices and a training/conference room available for both staff members and customers to enjoy.

Additionally, Lewis is the only bus dealer in Utah and Wyoming that offers a full range of maintenance services to all local fleets, regardless of make, model or OEM. Lewis’ staff includes licensed service representatives for Cummins, Braun, Ricon, Zonar, AngelTrax, Fortress and more than a dozen other component manufacturers.

“This new location is a testament to the strength and success of Thomas Built Buses and Lewis Bus Group,” said Kelley Platt, Thomas’ president and CEO. “Lewis Bus Group’s new facility will be instrumental to our combined growth as it will help us to better serve our customers in Wyoming and Utah with added services and offerings,”

In 1988 Lewis Bus Group began selling Thomas Built Buses as a division of Lewis Bros. Stages, a 100-year-old company. In 2003 Lewis became an independent entity and has expanded from a staff of five to 22, generating more than $15 million in sales.

Thomas Built Buses is a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America. Thomas recently held it annual dealer meeting in Nashville, Tenn., where it named Sonny Merryman Inc. of Central Virginia its 2013 Dealer of the Year and Nelson’s Bus Service of Whitewater, Wis., its Trainer of the Year.
