Zonar Systems, a leading provider of fleet management technology based in Seattle, announced yesterday that Vikas Jain has been appointed as its chief operating officer.
Jain has been advancing the boundaries of technology and innovation in the transportation, automotive and machine-to-machine (M2M) industries, according to company officials.
Zonar said it added Jain to its executive team at a time of “unprecedented” business growth and he will play an integral role in continuing to drive the overall business strategy for continued growth including mergers and acquisitions.
“We are excited to welcome Vikas to the Zonar team,” said Brett Brinton, CEO of Zonar. “Vikas brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and success within the transportation telematics industry. We look forward to his vision and insight as we continue to grow and innovate to serve the needs of commercial and public fleets.”
Prior to joining Zonar, Jain held several leadership positions in sales, engineering, operations and corporate development within the commercial transportation, automotive and M2M industries. As the vice president and general manager at Omnitracs, he launched a new generation of cloud-based services through the acquisition and subsequent management of FleetRisk Advisors and Sylectus.
Additionally, Jain played an active role in the divesture of Omnitracs from Qualcomm for $800 million last November. Prior to Qualcomm, he was the director of sales at Sierra Wireless, where he headed the automotive business in North America. Jain has also served as executive vice president and chief technology officer at PeopleNet.
He has won several industry awards as well. Most recently, FleetRisk Advisors won the IBM Business Analytics Excellence Award for ROI Achievement under his leadership in 2013.
