Coinciding with the death of Milo D. Bryant, a proponent of more stringent school bus safety standards as a result of the 1988 Carrolton, Ky., church bus crash and fire, Blue Bird Corporation said all of its school bus models meet more stringent roof-crash tests than what the federal government requires.

The Pennsylvania School Bus Association announced earlier this month that the state's student transportation industry lost a "great mentor" on March 2 when school-bus company owner Bill Roegnik, Jr., passed away after a battle with leukemia. He was 57.

The Diesel Emissions Reducation Act (DERA) could be slashed by 70 percent if President Obama's FY 2014 budget proposal is passed by Congress, a move that the diesel technology industry said would "decimate" the clean-air program.

Four school bus drivers for contractor Durham School Services received recognition for work they have done with elementary school students off the bus. Marie Tillson, Suzanne Swayze, Beatriz Derubis and Sheila Dawson are just a few of the drivers who take part in the bus contractor's nationwide "Adopt-A-School" program.
