Houston ISD Chosen as District of Distinction for ‘Model’ Transportation Programs PDF Print E-mail

In recognition of recent innovative transportation initiatives, Houston Independent School District has been named a District of Distinction by District Administration magazine. The Transportation Department was lauded for programs meant to improve the operational efficiency and safety of its buses and drivers, including its safety-oriented driver training and “green” bus fleet.

Ohio Girl Fatally Struck by Bus Outside of High School PDF Print E-mail

A student in Youngstown, Ohio died Wednesday after falling under the rear wheels of a school bus exiting her high school parking lot. The next morning the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim was Faith McCullough-Wooster, 14, a freshman at East High School and member of the volleyball team.

FMCSA Deadline for New Driver Electronic Medical File To Be Postponed PDF Print E-mail

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s impending deadline of Jan. 30, 2015 for implementing a new electronic medical file for commercial drivers must be pushed back, according to Charles Horan, director of driver and vehicle safety standards. On Wednesday, Horan told NASDPTS members that the compliance date would be delayed because a technology bridge is not in place to support this switchover.

Kansas City School District Honored for CNG School Buses, Filling Station PDF Print E-mail

Lee's Summit R-7 School District in Kansas City received the Outstanding CNG Fleet & Station Program from natural gas advocate NGVAmerica for implementing 106 of the alt-fuel school buses into its fleet and opening a fueling station last fall.

A new, narrower Type-A school bus model featuring a streamlined look and enhanced maneuverability and optimum efficiency is among Blue Bird's new releases at the NAPT Summit Trade Show in Kansas City. Blue Bird called the 10,400-pound, 25-passenger Micro Bird T-Series "an industry game changer."
