Zonar awarded grants to 10 pupil transporters to attend the 2010 NAPT Summit in Portland, Ore. Meanwhile, Fairport (N.Y.) CSD Transportation Director Peter Lawrence and wife Linda awarded two scholarships to school bus driver trainers or front-line supervisors.

The annual conference, held Oct. 30 through Nov. 4, is one of the largest events in the industry dedicated to training. It also includes an eight-hour trade show beginning on Nov. 2 and concluding Nov. 3.

Zonar's winners receive full conference registration. All other expenses are the responsibility of the individuals. The Zonar award does cover the cost of NAPT membership, if the winners are not already association members. The 2010 winners are: Brenda Shaffer - Chelan, Wash.; Pat Jensen – Crescent, Calif.; Leonard Swilley – Jackson, Miss.; Leon Langley, Baltimore, Md; Yvonne Carpenter – Shoreline, Wash.; J. Renee Davis – Houston; Tracie Chandler – Lynnwood, Wash.; Laura Sigmund – Inchelium, Wash.; Peggy Whitacre - Romney, W.V.; and Donna Haney - Santa Fe, Texas.

The Peter and Linda Lawrence scholarship winners are Lynda Nunez of Tucson, Ariz., and Nancy Kessler of Houston. Candidates for this award must have held an industry position for at least three years. Both Nunez and Kessler received grants to defray the cost of NAPT Summit registration.
