Sam Nigro, a former Webasto representative specializing in the school bus, transit and motor coach industries, passed away from cancer on Aug. 21. He was 86.

“Sam allowed and directed me in creating a greater effort into the school bus market,” said Paul Baczewski, Webasto’s national account manager for bus products. “Although in 1997 he promoted me to lead the company’s efforts in this industry, he was constantly advising, directing and giving recommendations until his retirement in 2001.”

Baczewski said Nigro was a supervisor who provided employees with the methods to find the tools to succeed, but challenged them to figure out how to make the tools work.

“I look back now and can see how he used potential failed projects as learning tools (for me) for the future,” Baczewski added.

Even in retirement, Nigro still held passion for the work performed at Webasto. His other interests and hobbies included fishing, hunting, and anything related to cars and trucks.

According to his obituary, Nigro was born on Feb. 22, 1932 in Omaha, Neb. He was a husband, father, brother and co-worker. He was a loving husband, of the late Gail Nigro and proceeded in death by his brother, Tom Nigro. He is survived by his son, Steve Nigro; daughters Debbie Voytovich, Laura Nieber and Terri Fabbri; and two grandchildren.

Nigro served in the Army in the Korean War.

A Celebration of Life gathering was held on Aug. 25. To share a memory of Nigro or offer condolences, visit: https://everloved.com/life-of/sam-nigro/memories
