STN talks with Yvette Sanchez Fuentes, the newest director of the Office of Head Start and an expert on issues affecting migrant and seasonal preschool students, on how the federal program continues to evolve and can benefit from increased funding.

The Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Technical Assistance Center scheduled a conference call for Jan. 21 to discuss several topics designed to address current events and to discuss the role of transportation in an agency’s emergency preparedness plan.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — In a recent conference call that included members of the National Head Start Association Board of Directors as well as state and regional Head Start association presidents and executive directors, NHSA Executive Director Yasmina Vinci supported an increase of $3.74 billion for FY 2011 Head Start funding.

The National Head Start Association last week welcomed the news that Yvette Sanchez Fuentes was named the new director of the federal program for low-income preschoolers.

Families of children enrolled in Head Start programs as well as agency volunteers will soon have the ability to purchase more than 300 brand-name and generic prescription drugs at 25 to 40 percent discounts following a deal inked by the program’s national advocacy group and pharmaceutical coalition.
