A new video from Marvelous Media shows just what it takes to make a yellow school bus.
The hour-long DVD, How’d They Build that School Bus?, takes viewers inside the "Green Mile," the Tulsa. Okla., assembly line where IC Bus manufactures all of its buses on a mile-long assembly line. The nuts-and-bolts, headlight-to-taillight video shows kids the complete school bus manufacturing process. Jim Swindle, producer for the two-year-old company that has released this and other videos in the How’d They Build That? series, said the current school bus video evolved from an earlier company video that provides a tour of IC’s mid-size truck plant in Springfield, Ohio. The company has also toured sites that build garbage trucks, concrete trucks and fire trucks, but Swindle said the Tulsa plant was something special. Co-producer Ethan Mesmer agreed. "Every plant has its own personality, but the school bus plant was probably the happiest one we’ve seen," Mesmer said. "I have to say, the employees really love what they’re doing."
