Nearly 6,700 Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses experiencing problems with stop lamps during vehicle braking are being recalled, Daimler Trucks North America reported to NHTSA last week. NHTSA recall campaign 10V177000 is in regard to model year 2005 through 2001 C2s manufactured from Jan. 19, 2005 through April 16 of this year. Daimler Trucks said the school bus stop lamps may function intermittently while the driver lightly applies the brakes, which could result in a rear-end crash if other motorists become confused. At this writing, DTNA had yet to notify NHTSA of when owners could be expected to receive information on repairs, which the company added will be performed free of charge. The DTNA recall campaign number is FL-577. |
