Thomas Built Buses implemented a voluntary recall on more than 1,500 school buses for an issue with the heater coolant flow valve actuator 0-ring.

NHTSA recall campaigns 10V183000 and  10V184000, which was filed on April 30, relates to the electrical wiring of 1,515 2009-2010 model year HDX school buses manufactured between Nov. 15, 2007 and June 15, 2009 and another 118 HDX models manufactured from Nov. 20, 2007 through May 8, 2009.

According to NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) notices:

"The heater coolant flow valve actuator 0-ring may allow coolant leakage into the heater core compartment and the actuator pc board area potentially causing the actuator to overheat and/or melt."

The resulting overheated and/or melted actuator could potentially cause a vehicle fire. Owners can contact Thomas Built Buses at (336) 889-4871.
