Hankook Tire America announced it was recalling more than 17,700 tires because they fail to meet FMVSS 139. The NHTSA recall campaign centers on less than expected sidewall wear, which can lead to a blowout. FMVSS 139 mandates new pneumatic radial tires for light vehicles, not commercial vehicles. The effected tire sizes are P256/70R17S RH03. Hankook said it will send notices to customers and will replace the tires free of charge. The recall is expected to begin next month. |
