Blue Bird Corporation filed a NHTSA recall pertaining to the sheet metal rain visors over the left-side, push-out side window that could be in non-compliance with FMVSS 217.

The recall centers on the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard that governs school bus emergency exits and window retention and release. Blue Bird said the rain visors may prohibit the emergency exit from opening sufficiently, which could adversely affect evacuations. The recall affects 363 units of model year 2011 and 2012 Vision and All American school buses.

Blue Bird said it will repair the rain visors free of charge and was expected to notify dealers and owners next month.
