Micro Bird announced it is recalling nine model-year 2010 and 2011 vehicles to address wheelchair lift doors that are not linked to an alarm that notifies the driver if the door is not completely closed.

The NHTSA recall affects MB II mult-purpose vans manufactured from Jan. 13 of last year through March 22 of this year. The vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lift platforms located at the right rear door. These vans fail to conform with FMVSS 206 regulating "Door Looks and Door Retention Components."  The result could be that the doors swing open while the vehicles are in operation, which could cause injury to nearby pedestrians or damages to other vehicles.

Micro Bird said it will notify customers of the fix  and that dealers will install a green "telltale" in the control panel that will illuminate when the wheelchair lift door is not fully closed. The repairs are free of charge to customers and are expected to be performed by mid-June.
