Organizers of the America’s Best School Bus Technician and School Bus Inspector Training and Skills Competition said between 28 and 30 states are expected to compete for the national crowns this fall, the most participants ever.

America’s Best will be held Sept. 22-25 in Greenville, S.C., at Michelin North America, Inc. Last week, South Carolina held its state competition and training event and announced its qualifiers. Representing the technician field is Alan Wencel of Summerville Schools. Meanwhile, inspector Tommy Grady, a state employee for Union Schools, will be making the short trek to Greenville this fall.

Iowa and Wyoming both held inaugural qualifying events this year. States have until Aug. 15 to notify Bill Tousley, the competition coordinator, of their interest in participating. All competitors have until Sept. 1 to submit their entry forms. More information is available online.
