A leading organization representing the national motorcoach industry is encouraging its members and Web site visitors to donate money to the American Red Cross to help the massive relief effort in the wake of a series of large earthquakes that occured in Haiti this week.

The United Motorcoach Association, which is affiliated with the National School Transportation Association that represents school bus contractor companies, announced today that it had donated money to the Haiti Relief and Development fund that is sending relief supplies, food and financial resources to the region. The American Red Cross has committed $10 million to support the relief efforts.

More than 3 million people are thought to be affected by the earthquakes, which ranged from magnitude 6.5 to 7.0. The Pan American Health Organization has estimated that the death toll could range from 50,000 to 100,000 people.
