School buses may be the safest way to get to school, but the reality is they aren’t the only way. An upcoming webinar will teach schools and cities how they can get their hands on a portion of the $789 billion from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 meant for building safer sidewalks, bike lanes, pathways and streets.
"Engineering Treatments and Strategies For Safe Routes To School," the two-part webinar from America Walks and the National Center For Safe Routes to School’s Safe Routes Coaching Action Network, will teach how to identify issues along school routes and engineer tools to improve safety. Register for either Part I held March 31 or Part II on April 21 online. For more info about either free webinar or the Safe Routes Coaching Action Network, contact Michelle Gulley at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. For those interested in making the yellow bus ride safer, School Transportation News will offer its own webinar on how schools can use stimulus funding to install emissions reduction technology or replace old buses above and beyond the replacement cycle. Register for the March 23 STN Webinar online. |
