ANAHEIM, Calif. — FirstGroup has been named the 2009 recipient of the National Safety Council’s (NSC) Green Cross for Safety Medal. The announcement took place at the NSC’s 96th Annual Congress and Expo in Anaheim, Calif., and will be followed by the actual award presentation in April 2009 in Manhattan.
"This medal is a testament to the focus on safety of the entire organization. Our commitment to the safety of our employees and customers through our Injury Prevention Program means if you cannot do it safely, don’t do it. I am extremely pleased and proud to receive this medal on behalf of all staff at FirstGroup," said FirstGroup Chief Executive Sir Moir Lockhead in a press release. NSC’s decision was based not only on the company’s Injury Prevention Program, but its safety record and commitment to improve the quality of life in its employee’s communities. Past recipients of the award include Delta Air Lines in 2008, as well as UPS and the Chrysler Group of DaimlerChrysler. |
