Widely known as a provider of lap/shoulder restraint seats for school buses, IMMI announced that its SafeGuard line will soon feature the ability for customers to purchase base seat benches that can be easily upgraded to include the seat belt systems.

National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Deborah Hersman said she plans to renew her Certified Passenger Safety Technician status as the federal agency targets improved child and youth safety for passenger vehicles, including a recommendation that all children up to age 8 use child safety seats.

Earlier this year Buffalo Public Schools saw 20 percent of its fleet of 630 school buses equipped with three-point, lap/shoulder belts, and now the district has a policy in place that requires all student riders wear the restraint systems and be trained on proper usage at least three times a year.
