Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced a notice of proposed rulemaking that would require three-point seat belts at all passenger seating positions in newly manufactured motorcoaches and the lap/shoulder belt systems for drivers of all motorcoach and school buses weighing more than 10,000 pounds.

[Updated] ZANESVILLE, Ohio — With the investigation just beginning into what was being described as a single-vehicle crash of a school bus that resulted in the death of a 6-year-old boy and injuries to six other students, the Ohio House of Representatives responded by introducing legislation that would require three-point, lap/shoulder restraints on all school buses by 2014.
