Cummins Westport ISL G Engine to
Meet EPA 2010 Emissions in 2007

DALLAS, Texas (Sept. 26, 2005) - Cummins Westport Inc. (CWI) announced today that a prototype of its high-performance low-emissions ISL G natural gas engine will be unveiled September 26, 2005, in Dallas, Texas, at the International Public Transportation Expo. The Expo is held every three years and presents the world's premier collection of manufacturers and suppliers of transit innovation.

Cummins Westport's new ISL G 8.9-liter natural gas engine product development program is well underway and is on schedule for introduction in 2007 model year vehicles. OEM integration work for the 2007 ISL G has been initiated. Field tests begin later in 2005.

In May 2004 Cummins Westport introduced the 8.9-liter L Gas Plus, which is the carry forward platform for Cummins Westport's next-generation natural gas engines. The current L Gas Plus is rated at 320 horsepower and 1000 lb-ft torque and is capable of meeting 2007 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards for oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and particulate matter (PM).

The 2007 ISL G Cummins Westport engine will bypass EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) 2007 phase-in levels and meet the 2010 emissions standards of 0.2 gm/bhp-hr NOx and 0.01 gm/bhp-hr PM at launch, utilizing cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and a passive three-way catalyst. Important design parameters for the next-generation 2007 ISL G also include leveraging proven engine technology and electronics for improved fuel efficiency, reliability, and lower total ownership costs, with a full range of ratings to 320 hp and 1000 lb-ft torque available to meet customer and OEM requirements.
