VersaTrans Solutions, Inc. Releases VersaTrans OnScreen Company's Newest Product Offering Leverages AVL/GPS Technology ALBANY, NY (March 28, 2006) -- VersaTrans Solutions, Inc. announced the general availability of its newest product offering on Friday, March 24. The product, VersaTrans OnScreen, leverages Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies to enable pupil transportation providers to monitor fleet and driver activity. "We are extremely excited about VersaTrans OnScreen, it's a terrific product," says CEO and President, Douglas Hamlin. "As a company, we spent time learning with our clients the various ways that AVL and GPS technology can be used in their operations. As a result, we have developed a highly scalable, flexible, user-friendly system that will continue to grow functionally to meet the emerging needs of our customers." VersaTrans OnScreen is a web-based application that integrates with VersaTrans RP, VersaTrans Solutions' flagship routing and planning solution. VersaTrans OnScreen enables school transportation operators to monitor vehicle location information and driver behavior in a real-time manner, while vehicles are on the road transporting students. It offers the opportunity to proactively monitor driver, route, and vehicle information to assist in providing safe transportation of students to and from school and extracurricular events. Prior to release, the application was tried, tested, and proven successful within three districts: Metropolitan School District of Washington Township, Indiana; Bloomington School District of Bloomington, Minnesota; and Liverpool School District of Liverpool, New York. VersaTrans OnScreen's design enables display of GPS data collected from virtually any source. Bloomington and Liverpool implemented equipment from Everyday Wireless, while Washington Township implemented equipment from Synovia; they are currently monitoring 135 vehicles using the software, while Bloomington is monitoring 28 vehicles, and Liverpool 26 vehicles. The districts all expressed a common excitement about the availability of the technology and the opportunity to work with VersaTrans to test it. Ann Hamlin, Transportation Coordinator for the Liverpool School District found immediate practical uses for the application. "I love the fact that I can see my vehicles everywhere in the area - even out of the district." About VersaTrans Solutions, Inc. |
