Blue Bird Awarded New Contract with
U.S. General Services Administration

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (June 26, 2006) - Blue Bird Corporation announced today that it has been awarded a sales contract with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to supply buses to agencies of the Federal Government. The one-year requirements contract includes options for four additional years, and Blue Bird has already received purchase orders for over 400 buses this year under this new agreement.

GSA provides government agencies, such as the Department of Defense and Department of Justice, with professional engineering services, including technical or application assistance and bus design, to assist in the purchasing decisions for school, shuttle, city transit, or intercity coaches. GSA also simplifies both the technical aspects of an agency's requirements and the procurement process of buses covered under its contracts.

This new GSA contract encompasses the following Blue Bird bus models used for transporting both adults and children:

  • the Vision , a popular conventional style bus offering the best sight lines in its class;
  • the All American , a premium transit style bus;
  • the smaller Type A Micro Bird bus;
  • the 102-inch wide XCEL 102 transit bus, available in 35- and 40-foot lengths;
  • the aluminum body structure and stainless steel chassis Ultra LF low floor bus;
  • and the all stainless steel constructed commuter Express Coach, available in 40- and 45-foot lengths.

Blue Bird has been a bus supplier to the Federal Government since 1989 under GSA's Buses All Ready to Buy (BARB) program. Since that time, nearly 6000 buses have been provided to meet Federal Agency requirements. The vehicles covered under the new Blue Bird contract meet the FMVSS specifications and the state specifications required for school buses. For city shuttle buses and heavy-duty motor coaches, Blue Bird meets the Federal Transit Administration's strict Altoona testing requirements. In addition, all vehicles delivered under the contract meet the demanding requirements of the applicable Bus Standards developed by GSA.

For nearly 80 years, Blue Bird Corporation has continued to set industry standards with its innovative design and manufacturing capabilities. Blue Bird has an extensive network of distributors and service-parts facilities throughout North America . For more information, please visit www.blue-bird.com .
