Grand Rock Introduces QP Muffler Challenge

PAINSVILLE, Ohio (Aug. 23, 2007) — Grand Rock Inc. is proud to introduce the QP Muffler Challenge that guarantees to save school districts thousands on fleet operating expenses.

Grand Rock’s Quiet Performance (QP) Muffler guarantees to provide better fuel mileage and better performance than standard OEM & conventional replacement mufflers.

The patented design creates accelerated flow through the muffler, also known as “scavenging”.

“Exhaust is literally pulled downstream from the engine and turbo, and pushed the rest of the way downstream”, said Bill Stoneman, Grand Rock President. “This relieves the duty of the engine to “pump” exhaust downstream.”

Walled Lake Schools in Walled Lake, Michigan was the first to take the Muffler Challenge.

“We installed a QP Muffler on a Freightliner bus and saw immediate & startling results – the fuel mileage on this particular bus jumped from 6.4 to 8.1 MPG” according to Tim Stage, Fleet Director for the district. Walled Lake has begun retrofitting their 140-bus fleet to all QP Mufflers. “We estimate that we will save over $180,000 annually on fuel costs alone,” said Stage.

For over 30 years, Grand Rock has designed and manufactured a complete line of heavy truck exhaust components sold through distributors worldwide.
