Beginning this month, Apollo Video’s RoadRunner video system will be retro-fitted on 42 buses of the existing KCATA fixed route fleet of over 300 buses. The contract also provides for the training of KCATA personnel in the operation of the system. The installation of Apollo Video’s digital color, audio and video RoadRunner systems, which includes seven cameras per bus, will help the agency monitor the safe boarding, riding and disembarkation of passengers and operation of its buses. Additionally, cameras will capture traffic activity in the front, rear and sides of each bus. “The project will further enhance bus operator and customer security aboard KCATA vehicles as well as improve incident investigation capabilities,” said Bob Kohler, KCATA Director of Transportation.
