VersaTrans Solutions, Inc. Contributes to Community During Holidays
Employees annually donate money and resources to help others. ALBANY, N.Y. (Jan. 9, 2008) — Throughout 2007, VersaTrans Solutions, Inc. has participated in the Adopt-A-Highway program and built bicycles for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. The company has continued its philanthropic ways with two more charitable projects during the holiday season. VersaTrans Solutions has participated in the Albany County Department for Children, Youth & Families “Adopt-A-Family” program since 2001, sponsoring one local family each year. This year VersaTrans Solutions was able to sponsor two local families. Also a bicycle from the Build-A-Bike Workshop that took place in September 2007 was donated to one of the families. Employees donated money as well as purchased clothes, toys, household items, gift cards and holiday decorations to both families. Adding to the donation was the returnable can and bottle fund that VersaTrans associates tend to all year long in order to benefit the cause. “Community service is very important to VersaTrans Solutions Inc., and its employees,” says Cherri Alderdice, Human Resources Manager. “Our employees work as a team – whether in donating, wrapping, or loading vehicles to deliver the gifts to our adopted families, it’s great to see them exhibit teamwork beyond their job responsibilities. The best result of our company growth is the growth in our community service, which means a lot to people like our adopted families.” As done in past years, VersaTrans Solutions is participating in the annual United Way fund drive. Employee donations, made through single donation or payroll deduction, aid the local United Way-supported organization of the donator’s choice. Such organizations help the sick, youths, senior citizens or others in need. VersaTrans’ participation grows each year: total employee donations to the United Way surpassed last year’s by 20%, which maintains VersaTrans’ Gold Member status. VersaTrans Solutions additional humanitarian activities include participation in local blood drives and Meals on Wheels. The company encourages and supports participation in community service activities by compensating their employees for up to three hours of paid leave per month. |
