First School Buses Purchased from Volkswagen Settlement are Propane-Powered

LAFAYETTE, La. — Louisiana is the first state to release its Volkswagen settlement fund dollars, and Lafayette Parish Schools has become the first recipient. Given the choice between replacing aging diesel school buses with newer diesel models or with buses fueled by propane, this district chose to utilize funding from the state’s Environmental Mitigation Trust to purchase 10 new Blue Bird Vision Propane school buses.

Township H.S. District 211 Adds Propane Buses

PALATINE, Ill. — Township High School District 211 has added 15 propane autogas-fueled buses to its fleet for the 2018-19 school year. These Blue Bird Vision Propane Type C models reduce operating costs and help the school district lower its carbon footprint.

Schools Support Giving Propane Buses Straight A’s

School buses carry 25 million students to and from school every day, making this industry the largest form of the nation’s public transportation. According to the American School Bus Council, school buses keep 17 million cars off the roads each year—substantially reducing the amount of emissions emitted and fuel consumed. These buses run on a variety of fuels, including diesel and propane.
